"The Joy of Knowing Jesus!"

Dahil sa pangungulit ng aking mga anak, I finally gave in to their invitation and attended church with my family on July 1, 1990.

After hearing God's word during the Worship Service madaming nabuong questions sa mind ko.

The following Sunday, I decided to attend church again, but this time armed with questions to challenge the pastor and disprove his faith.

However, God had other plans in mind for me.

During that same Sunday when I planned to challenge the pastor with my questions, what happened instead was a very enlightening and in-depth discussion with him. As a result, God opened my eyes to the truth of His Word and to my need for a Savior.

Finally, on July 8, 1990, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and dedicated my life to Him.

Surprisingly, just a week after nagkaroon ng napakalakas na lindol. That was July 16, 1990. Dahil doon mas lalo kong na-realized how blessed I was knowing that I have eternal life. I thought to myself that if ever I died that time during the earthquake, I am glad that I was saved and ready for heaven.

However, that incident also opened my eyes to the reality na madami pa sa mga friends and relatives ko ang hindi pa saved and they need to know Jesus soon. Because of that nagkaroon ako ng passion for evangelism as well as mission outreach and church planting.

Nais ko na mas marami pa ang makakilala sa Panginoong Hesus at magkaroon ng buhay na walang hanggan bago pa mahuli ang lahat sa kanila.

Prior to my being a committed follower of Jesus Christ, I was raised as a Catholic with a strong belief that GOOD WORKS would save me and that HAVING A PRIEST in the family would redeem our clan from sin. Kaya naman I kept on donating sa mga Catholic churches, renovated altars, and even sponsored my cousin who wanted to be a priest in his seminary studies.

But just before he was anointed as a priest, I found the courage to share the Good News of Jesus with him. And because of that, he had a change of mind about his plan of entering the priesthood. This made a lot of our relatives truly angry with me and my wife at that time.

Ganun pa man, patuloy lang kami ng aking pamilya sa paglilingkod sa Panginoong Hesus at sa pag-akay ng mga tao sa kanya.

 Note:

On October 29, 2020, 'Kuya Rene' or 'Daddy Nato' -as many fondly called him, went home to heaven to be with his Maker and Master the Lord Jesus Christ whom he faithfully served with a heart full of passion. Though he was called by many titles, he was most content to be simply called a servant of Jesus Christ.
